Le lev bulgare (en bulgare : лев), ou leva , est l'unité monétaire de la Bulgarie depuis 1881, lorsque la Bulgarie devient une république autonome de l'Empire ottoman. Son nom signifie « lion » en bulgare - le même que le leu roumain et le leu moldave.
Lors de sa création, en 1881, le lev était à parité avec le franc français.
The Bulgarian lev, or lev, is the monetary unit of Bulgaria since 1881, when Bulgaria became an autonomous republic of the Ottoman Empire. Its name means "lion" in Bulgarian - the same as the Romanian leu and the Moldovan leu.
